It’s been a while…

Lots of you have asked us whether we’re still running LAN parties. We’re delighted to announce that in 2019, ZPH LANs are BACK, with both private and public events coming your way!

We haven’t held an event for over 3 years now, since we decided to go looking for a bigger, better, cheaper venue. Spoiler: we couldn’t find one. Venue hire in the south is incredibly expensive!

We’re still keen as ever to run LAN events, and several of us now work at an office that has a good space for running LAN parties, so we’re going to run some small single-day events there. These will be free and invite-only, for past attendees we know well and trust — we don’t want to get fired or have to stop doing events because of anyone’s behaviour. If you’re a past attendee and you’re interested, drop by our Discord and convince us.

What about the big events? Well, once we’ve got back into the swing of running LANs, we’ll re-book St. Mary’s and resume running public events there, with a ~£10 bump in ticket price so that we can cover the increased venue hire, internet and insurance costs.

We’re all really excited to be running events again, and we hope you’ll come back to join us!

Keep an eye on our Discord / Facebook / Twitter / website for further updates.

See you soon!

LAN 13 – Tickets available

LAN 13 is less than three weeks away – have you got your ticket yet?

We’re over the halfway point for tickets sold, but there’s still time to book your seat at the next event – that’s 48 hours of multiplayer gaming, with games voted for by attendees and music curated by the ZPH team.

In the meantime, you can get to know your fellow LAN neighbours by heading over to our Facebook page – or, even better, you can join us on our Mumble voice chat server and play with us. Our next online games night is July 6th, when we’ll be playing Gary’s Mod: Prophunt – come join us for some pre-LAN warm up fun!

You’ll also get a chance to know people while you’re here: Saturday night is party night at ZPH LANs, and you can expect pizza, pub quizzes and party games throughout the evening. Whether you’re arriving with friends or on your own, you’ll leave with a new group of gaming buddies – that’s our guarantee!

Announcing LAN 13!

Our next LAN is just over a month away, and we’re already finishing up our plans to make it our best yet.

Clocking in at 48 hours of multiplayer gaming spread out over three days, taking you right up to Sunday afternoon and evening. Once you get here all you need to do is set up, introduce yourself and settle in for the first game of the night – the perfect way to start the weekend!

ZPH LANs are all based around what you want to play. We’ll poll all ticket holders to find out which event-wide games you’d like us to organise, and with our own LANager system it’s easy for you to to find people to play with. We’ll have dedicated game servers throughout the weekend, running top titles like Counter Strike: Global Offensive as well as favourites such as Team Fortress 2 and Quake III Arena – so there’s always somewhere to go and play.

We’ll be at St. Mary’s Social Centre in Lewes again, with the perfect environment for a long gaming session: optimised lighting and cooling; 60mbps down, 20mbps up internet; a separate sleeping area (for those who get there early enough), and a bar next door offering the cheapest drinks in Lewes.

ZPH LAN 12 saw plenty of activity on our projector screen, including a shoutbox for forming game parties, and plenty of silliness on Saturday night as we took over the screen for party games, videos and the ZPH Pub Quiz. We’ll be bringing back the Jackbox Party Pack for Fibbage and Drawful, as well as some good old-fashioned multiplayer games from indies and AAA developers alike.

Most importantly, you’ll get a chance to spend the weekend enjoying wall-to-wall social gaming surrounded by your friends and teammates. We’ll see you in-game!

  • March 27th – 29th
  • July 17th – 19th
  • September 25th – 27th

All of these run from 6pm on the Friday to 6pm on Sunday – 48 hours of LAN!

Stick the dates in your calendars, or subscribe to ours so you don’t miss out.

What even is a LAN Gaming Party?

We’ve been hounded with questions about what it’s all about. Fear not inquisitive gamers, because we’ve compiled an in-exhaustive FAQ to address the dozens of questions we receive daily on the subject:

What goes on?

A weekend filled with indulgent amounts of gaming, eating, drinking and music, intermingled with sleep. Guests bring along their gaming rig, plug into our superfast network and play.

Which games will get played?

Everyone who buys a ticket gets to vote on which games get dedicated play time, so it really is up to you! We also set aside time for “projector games”. Keep an ear out for announcements on Facebook and Twitter closer to the event.

What’s this about a projector?

In between the videos and music submitted by everyone at the event that get played on the projector and soundsystem, everyone’s invited to play split screen / co-op multiplayer games on the projector. The record last time was simultaneous 10-player Gang Beasts – completely ridiculous!

Food? Drink? Alcohol?

Not only can you pop to the longest bar in Lewes next door, but now (due to popular demand) you may bring your own drinks to the LAN. We’ll also be selling snacks and energy drinks throughout the event, and running a pizza order with Dominos on the Saturday night.

Relevant to your interests?

Book now for a weekend of immersive gaming and geekery. Terrific.
